When it comes to Accounting and financial careers does it matter where your degree is from?
I’m going to school to become an accountant or something in the financial world.I have attended the University of Phoenix Axia Online campus for a year and a half and they are only nationally accredited not regional.I want to transfer to Everest University to finish my bachelors degree. They are only nationally acredited as well. Does it matter where you get the degree or just that you have the knowledge needed ?
I’ve never met anyone who has a degree from an online university. To be honest, I don’t think that an online degree could possibly be as reputable as a degree from a real school, with real classrooms. Just go to a real school, you’re still going to have to make sacrifices whether you go to a real school or online school, but a degree from a real school is actually worth something.

In today’s economy, school name is crucial (unless you already know a lot of people who are in the field). Most recruiters are now only going to reputable schools to recruit finance and accounting majors. I don’t know if University of Phoenix conducts any networking events. But, having an Ivy League or similar school name on your resume definitely helps.
I know this isn’t the answer that most people want to hear. But, this is just the way things are right now.
